Happy New Year! 2019 is a special year for us as we mark our 40th year with the theme: 40 years of Forming Men of Integrity.
Back in 1979, the school year began with a single unfinished academic structure, a rocky football field, a handful of academic leaders, and a few students and parents. Now we have completed our academic buildings together with a chapel and auditorium, our multi-purpose artificial turf field is about to be finished, we have more than a hundred academic leaders, and over a thousand students and parents. Forty years is relatively young for an educational institution but we could already be proud of the over three thousand alumni we have produced who are now making a good impact on our society in the fields of politics and government, business, medicine, education, films and theatre arts, etc. We have to thank God for the founding parents, teachers, and students who, with a lot of supernatural and human faith, embarked on this educational journey the fruits of which we now enjoy.
Though structures and numbers have changed, what remains unchanged is our mission to help families in the formation and transformation of their sons as Men of Integrity. This is a mission we cannot and should not abandon as this was envisioned by our founding parents based on the teachings of our inspirational founder, St. Josemaria Escriva, the founder of Opus Dei. The school’s mission is very much aligned with this important value of Christian marriage elucidated by St. Josemaria himself in these words: Christian couples should be aware that they are called to sanctity themselves and to sanctify others, that they are called to be apostles and that their first apostolate is their home. They should understand that founding a family, educating their children, and exercising a Christian influence in society, is a supernatural task. The effectiveness and success of their life - their happiness - depend to a great extent on their awareness of their specific mission. (Conversations with Msgr Escriva de Balaguer, #91)
As we celebrate our 40th year, I encourage your active involvement and participation in the different formative activities offered by the school. There will be two International Seminars for parents this school year which we hope you will support. The first one is coming this January 29, Tuesday, entitled “Raising & Educating The Wired Generation”. The second one will be a joint Parenting Seminar with PAREF to be held in the last quarter of the year. We will provide you with the schedule and details of our other 40th year activities here at Parents First.
Once again, a happy and blessed new year to all! Please pray a lot for the school especially this January 9 as we celebrate the 117th birth anniversary of Saint Josemaria.
